Patient Registration
Location: West Islip, NY (Onsite)
Schedule: 4:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Rotating weekends & holidays
Position Overview
The Patient Registration Specialist supports physicians by ensuring accurate patient information, smooth daily operations, and clear communication between patients and hospital staff. This role is essential in helping reduce confusion around billing and ensuring clinicians can focus on patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit patients daily to confirm demographics and explain the hospitalist program.
- Verify insurance information and enter data into internal systems.
- Create and distribute daily rounding lists to physicians and nursing units.
- Collect necessary charts/documents from Medical Records (EMR).
- Assist with PCP appointment coordination when needed.
- Serve as a liaison between hospitalists, hospital staff, and administrative teams.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- 6-12 months of healthcare administrative experience (Patient Access, Registrar, PSR, MA, Unit Coordinator).
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
- Medical terminology knowledge; CPT/ICD familiarity preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and work rotating weekends/holidays.
- EMR/EHR experience a plus.
