While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we require in-person participation several times a year for team-building events and alignment meetings. As a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the needs of our Machine Learning Engineers, identifying existing capabilities and areas for improvement. Mentoring junior engineers to enhance their skills and improve the quality of software developed within the team. Raising engineering standards to ensure high availability and low latency of our machine learning inference infrastructure, which supports predictive ML models and LLMs. Optimizing low-latency streaming pipelines to ensure our ML models have access to the freshest, highest-quality data. Promoting the latest best practices for building high-performance distributed training jobs that can manage large data volumes. Developing tools to monitor the quality of input data for our models and to detect any performance degradations. We seek candidates who meet the following requirements: 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer. A strong understanding of distributed systems. Leadership through exemplary code quality and effective communication skills. A keen design sense, with the ability to clarify complex technical requirements. A customer-centric approach to engineering, dedicated to providing a seamless experience for fellow engineers. Mastery of foundational skills that allow for quick adaptation across various technologies. Preferred qualifications include: Experience in building ML models and working with ML systems. Previous work on a platform team and experience in developer tooling. Familiarity with technologies such as Python, Golang, Ray, Tecton, Spark, Airflow, Databricks, Snowflake, and DynamoDB. The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $225,000 USD. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, along with benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
