Our client, a leading name in industrial manufacturing solutions, is looking for a Technical Sales Engineer with expertise in cutting tools and metal cutting to enhance growth across distribution channels and direct user accounts. This position is perfect for a sales professionalwith practical chip-making knowledge who possesses a solid grasp of machining processes and can expertly consult with manufacturing engineers, machinists, production managers, and procurement teams. Position Overview: The Technical Sales Engineer will be charged with boosting revenue in a designated territory by promoting top-tier cutting tools, carbide inserts, indexable tooling, solid carbide end mills, drills, reamers, and metal removal solutions. The ideal candidate will combine industrial sales acumen with an in-depth knowledge of CNC machining, feeds and speeds optimization, tool geometry, carbide grades, coatings, and metal cutting applications. This role focuses on a consultative, solution-oriented approach to sales, providing support to both industrial distributors and end-user manufacturing facilities such as job shops, production machining environments, and OEM manufacturers. Key Responsibilities:
Drive sales growth within the territory for cutting tools and metal cutting solutions by leveraging both distribution partners and direct end users. Offer technical application support for CNC milling, turning, drilling, and chip-making operations. Advise clients on effective feeds and speeds, tooling geometry selection, carbide grades, coatings, tool life enhancement, and cycle time reduction. Conduct onsite evaluations of machining processes and suggest improvement strategies. Collaborate with engineers and machinists to enhance surface finishes, tool performance, and cost efficiency. Build strong relationships with industrial distributors and deepen engagement with end-user accounts. Identify opportunities for process optimization, tooling standardization, and increased metal removal efficiency. Support new product launches and advocate for advanced tooling technologies.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in cutting tool sales, industrial tooling, or metalworking sales. Robust technical knowledge of chip-making processes, CNC machining, feeds and speeds, tool geometry, and carbide grades. Background in engaging with industrial distribution networks and end-user manufacturing accounts. Familiarity with various metal removal applications, including milling, turning, drilling, tapping, and boring. Strong communication skills when interacting with machinists, programmers, production supervisors, and engineering teams. Proven success in territory management, account development, and technical consultative sales.
