within the Dairy Ireland Division.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Mallow Site Quality Lead, the Quality Officer is responsible for testing samples accurately, in a timely manner, and reporting of these results to the site team. This role requires working to deliver in spec In- process results that will ensure Finished Product Right First Time (RFT) targets are met, food safety & hygiene standards are met & that performance is achieved in customer, regulatory & certification body audits. To ensure compliance with food safety standards, monitor compliance, report on metrics & improve the site systems. The Quality Officer is a key support role to the Site Quality Lead and is recognised as a key player within the site team to help manage food safety, authenticity, legality and quality.
Core responsibilities
Promote a Food and Health & Safety culture within the site & set & monitor adherence to all Quality & Environmental, Health & Safety standards & procedures;
Reporting issues to your manager, compliant to all SOPs. Obey all hygiene rules & take part in training. Food safety is your responsibility.
Supervise and co-ordinate the efficient sampling and testing of designated raw materials, intermediates and finished goods in accordance with defined test schedules
Ensure an effective system is in place for managing all samples and standards in line with agreed test/sampling plans
Co-ordinate the dispatch of samples to the appropriate Dairygold Central Laboratory and 3rd party labs within agreed timelines. Manage the results generated in these labs in accordance with agreed (SOPs)
Oversee QC systems to ensure all QC reports are maintained in an accurate and timely manner
Liaise with production staff and Site Quality Lead regarding QC status of products
Ensure QC data trends are updated and displayed and that all plant personnel are aware of the quality status of the product and process
Partake in an effective shift hand-over ensuring QC service is seamless
Support sampling requirements across team on an ad hoc basis where necessary
Ensure any non-conformances are recorded and acted upon promptly
Provide support for production trials, root cause analysis and improvement projects as required
Take a lead role in ensuring all Lab instrumentation in use in the plant is maintained and calibrated and that all results derived from them are valid. Maintain vendor relationships and develop an expertise in these rapid test instruments.
Ensure the in laboratory operates safe working practices maintaining a clean & tidy workplace.
Actively seek to improve laboratory working practices and methods
Identify and manage consumable purchasing requirements and the monitoring of stocks and consumables.
Fulfil any other reasonable responsibility or duty as identified or requested by the Site Quality Lead
Sampling of product from a variety of sample points throughout the site.
Attend workgroup meetings and participate in Continual Quality Improvement.
Calibration of Laboratory/ Production equipment and involvement in the setup, commissioning and running of new Laboratory / Production equipment, including new techniques.
Creating and delivering training packages to Laboratory/ Production personnel.
Auditing of Laboratory, participate in reviewing & updating SOPs and records.
Provide internal customers with a first-class level of service.
Utilise IT technology and Dairygold systems to record results, applicable to the labs.
Sign off paperwork as required by lab standards.
Monitoring & verification of OPRPs & CCPs
Monitoring of compliance with GMP/GHP/GDP rules.
We want to hear from you if you have:
1-3 years experience in a food manufacturing environment at FSSC 22000 standard as a minimum
Strong interpersonal & communication skills;
Team Player
Ability to work on own initiative
Good writing & coaching skills
Excellent technical competence with the capacity to effectively analyse issues & problem solve in accordance with our CI philosophy;
A questioning mentality with the objective of driving best practice & RFT (Right First Time)
Results-orientated
