Senior Project Manager - Power Grid Construction

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead power grid construction projects in the San Jose area, overseeing transmission, distribution, and substation work from planning through close‐out. This role is responsible for safely delivering complex utility projects on time and on budget while coordinating closely with internal teams, the utility, and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Lead full life‐cycle delivery of electric grid construction projects (scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety).
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk registers.
- Coordinate engineering design, drawing submittals, and quality reviews.
- Oversee contractors and field crews; resolve construction and site issues as they arise.
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, contracts, permits, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Track and report progress, financials, and key milestones to leadership and utility stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Identify and manage project risks, changes, and claims; recommend and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide leadership to cross‐functional teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of utility, transmission/distribution, or heavy civil construction project management, including large or complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of power grid or substation construction, permitting, and close‐out processes.
- Proven ability to manage multi‐million‐dollar project portfolios with strict schedule and budget targets.
- Experience leading cross‐disciplinary teams and managing contractors in the field.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem‐solving skills.
