Buttimer Engineering is a diversified engineering company specialising in bulk materials handling systems and high-quality steel fabrication. We deliver design, fabrication, procurement, installation, maintenance, commissioning, and full turnkey engineering projects across a wide range of industries, from rural installations to large-scale international ports.


Role Overview

Buttimer Engineering is seeking a proactive and detail-focused QA/QC Engineer to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance and quality control processes across the business.


The role will ensure that engineering deliverables, internal procedures, and project outputs comply with company standards, client requirements, and relevant industry regulations. The QA/QC Engineer will work closely with technical teams, project managers, and senior leadership to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Assurance



  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Buttimer Engineering’s Quality
  • Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (and other applicable standards) across projects and offices
  • Develop, review, and update QA/QC procedures, templates, and workflows
  • Promote best practice quality standards across engineering disciplines

Project Quality Control



  • Review engineering deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings, specifications) to ensure compliance with internal and client quality requirements
  • Support project teams in applying project-specific quality plans
  • Monitor document control, approvals, and revision processes in collaboration with Document Control
  • Identify non-conformances and support corrective and preventive actions

Audits & Compliance



  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits
  • Maintain audit records, non-conformance reports, and corrective action logs
  • Track quality performance metrics and report findings to management
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and communicated across the business
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the QMS
  • Assist in analysing quality issues and root causes
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on QA/QC procedures and standards
  • Support onboarding of new employees with quality-related processes

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a QA/QC or quality-focused role within an engineering or construction environment
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems and QA/QC principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and audit processes
  • Familiarity with document xcfaprz control systems and engineering deliverables
  • Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects

Qualifications



  • Degree or diploma in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification (desirable but not essential)
