We’re recruiting for a Senior Network Engineer to join our IT Operations team in Dublin!

This role supports the delivery and improvement of IT services within the organisation, especially during ongoing transformation initiatives.
Reporting to the IT Network & Server Team Lead, this Senior Network Engineer will lead the design, development, support and operation of AXA Ireland’s Network Infrastructure, security devices and related components. Acting as mentor to other roles and being a point of escalation within IT.

You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our head office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensures delivery of service is in line with agreed levels and availability in line with business needs for areas of responsibility.
- Build, Install, configure and maintain network devices, routing, switching, firewall, load-balancer, O/S, servers, systems and components.
- Provides Level 3 Incident response, request and problem resolution in line with agreed, ITIL based standards.
- Proactively manages the security and configuration of all systems, and reports on system security in accordance with IS Security Policy.
- Regularly performs patching, upgrades and currency reviews to ensure the technical estate remains current.
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability, reporting on resource utilization, trends, and capacity planning as required.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Co-ordinates and delivers agreed project objectives on time, on budget and on specification in order to contribute to departmental and business goals.
- Acts as subject matter expert for key areas of network and server technology and technical lead for design authority.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and records of systems, processes, procedures in technical domain.
- Liaise with external vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution and project delivery.
- Works with our IT Architecture team to design and build industry best practice solutions across network, storage and compute.
What you'll need:
- 8 years IT Technical support or engineering experience in a comparable IT Infrastructure environment, financial services or similar enterprise background (essential)
- 3rd level qualification in IT discipline, or equivalent experience
- ITIL Foundation (essential)
- A minimum of one advanced Professional certification related to Network infrastructure, Cisco or Network security (essential)
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
- A strong background in IT Infrastructure with hands on in-depth technical knowledge of some, or all, of key technologies – Cisco Networking, Server Technologies ( MS, VMware, Citrix ), Active Directory, GENESYS Telephony/Unified Communications, Checkpoint, Cisco ASA Firewall, Netscaler, Forcepoint Web Proxy, Solarwinds technologies.
- Detailed knowledge networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Strong understanding of hybrid, private, public cloud platforms & technologies
