We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately documented, packed, and dispatched on time. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of efficiency and accuracy within our warehouse operations. You will work closely with our warehouse associates and logistics coordinators to ensure a seamless flow of goods from our facility to our customers. Your responsibilities will include preparing shipping labels, verifying order contents, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining accurate shipping records. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A solid understanding of shipping procedures and familiarity with warehouse management systems are highly desirable. We emphasize strict adherence to safety protocols and expect all team members to utilize appropriate PPE at all times. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including creating shipping labels and documentation.
- Verify order accuracy against packing slips and shipping manifests.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, freight carriers) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding shipment status and any discrepancies.
- Maintain organized and accurate shipping records.
- Ensure all packages are properly labeled, secured, and handled to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, especially those related to Safety and inventory control.
- Operate standard office equipment and basic warehouse tools.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the Logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping or warehouse environment preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable with physical tasks including standing, walking, and moderate Lifting .
- Willingness to wear required PPE .
