At Digital Progression, we research, assess, and experiment with emerging technologies, to unlock value for the business and build vertical enterprise capabilities.

Through a multidisciplinary research framework – and in partnership with expert communities across Liberty Mutual and external groups – we take emerging tech through the Digital Progression innovation pipeline. This starts with scanning for potentially disruptive trends, through technical-readiness research and experimentation with Liberty use-cases, to the creation of new technology-driven capabilities.

This role is for the Technical Research part of DP, Conduct deeper tech research to evaluate readiness and applicability; and align with real business opportunities.

Experience and skills we need:

• Python
• A third level qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science or STEM subject and a minimum of three year of post graduate software development experience in a commercial environment; or current and valid industry recognised certifications and three years software development experience in a commercial environment
• Experience in agile software delivery (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.).
• Experience with AWS public cloud
• Knowledge and experience of continuous improvement in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in technical communication with peers and non-technical stakeholders.

• Cloud Platform: AWS Public Cloud Programming Language: Primarily Python but would be good to be familiar with Typescript as some experiments use it.
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions
• GenAI and AgenticAI: Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, LangGraph, MCP, Postgres Vector Store, AWS Neptune
• Observability: DataDog
• AI tools: GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT
• Knowledge and experience of DevOps as part of Agile software development.
• Active participation in knowledge sharing activities, both within the team and with wider non-technical audiences.
• Experience of building great software products with a customer-centric approach and balancing technical decisions with user needs and commercial constraints.
• A learning mindset as well as being very curious would be very beneficial for this team
• Research experience would be very beneficial but not essential

Whatyou’llbe doing:

• Be part of a team who are working to solve complex business problems by delivering high-quality software thatprovidesan outstanding experience for our customers.
• Write clean code in line with the team’s set standards.
• Own, scope and deliver well defined tasks or stories. Communicate and update your progress regularly at stand-ups or similar agile events.
• Collaborate closely and cooperatively with your technical and non-technical teams to work towards the best solution that maximises value to the customer.
• Contribute to a culture of code quality and implement automated, unit and integration testing as part of the software development lifecycle. Apply good security processes such as threat modelling to the code you develop.
• Implement your team’s Engineering Excellence standards when creating solutions. Activelyparticipatein deployment by reviewing Pull Requests from other team members andmaintainingCI/CD pipelines.
• Grow your knowledge of architecture, modern engineeringprinciplesand design patterns.
• Assess the business value ofnew technologiesand technical solutions using a data-driven approach and contribute to their adoption into the product life cycle.
• Supported by senior team members, seek opportunities to share and celebrate whatyou’velearned through internal tech talks,bloggingand external events.
