Every member of the firm contributes to our collective success. The Opportunity NorthWind is seeking a high-potential Associate (Executive Recruiter) to join our team. This is a high-impact position supporting the execution of C-suite and Board-level executive searches for clients, including private-equity portfolio companies, public enterprises, and founder-led growth platforms. Associates at NorthWind are core contributors who partner with senior consultants to shape market strategies, identify and engage leadership talent, and deliver outcomes that influence the direction of entire organizations. The role provides direct exposure to senior executives, investors, and boards, and a clearly defined path to advancement within one of the industrys most respected retained search firms. Core Responsibilities Collaborate with Partners and senior consultants through the full lifecycle of retained executive searchfrom client briefing and market strategy to candidate engagement, evaluation, and placement. Participation in the full lifecycle of the executive search, selection, and assessment process, including research, market analysis, candidate identification/contact/courting, interviews, client and candidate updates, in-person client meetings as appropriate, and other selected client deliverables (such as position specifications, status reports, candidate reports, etc.). Conduct market research, company mapping, and talent identification to define and assess leadership markets. Manage candidate outreach and relationship development, assessing leadership capability, motivation, and fit. Draft position specifications, candidate summaries, and progress reports that capture insights with clarity and precision. Support client communications and business development efforts, contributing to meetings, reporting, and ongoing engagement. Maintain real-time accuracy within NorthWinds cloud-based CRM and search platform. Participate in select client meetings, leadership assessments, and industry events. Ideal Candidate Profile This opportunity is designed for experienced executive recruiters as well as exceptional early-career professionals who bring strong client-facing, analytical, or leadership experience and want to build a career in retained search. 1?? Experienced Executive Recruiters 25 years of experience in executive search or professional recruiting, ideally within a retained or hybrid model. Demonstrated ability to manage candidate relationships, research markets, and contribute to client delivery. Desire to elevate into a true advisory role focused on board- and C-suite-level leadership work. 2?? High-Performing Professionals from Adjacent Fields 37 years of success in a relationship-driven, performance-based field such as management consulting, investment banking, PE/VC operations, enterprise sales, or military leadership. Strong business judgment and the ability to engage credibly with senior executives. Excellent communicator and relationship-builder with the discipline and intellectual curiosity to learn a new craft. Motivated by long-term growth, professional rigor, and partnership opportunity. Qualifications Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, written and verbal. Strong business acumen and curiosity about how leadership drives enterprise value. Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter, CRM/ATS tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage competing priorities with precision. Willingness to travel occasionally for client and firm engagements.
