The Role:Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services and support to the wider Uisce Éireann business, and across the Local Authority user base. IT Operations is responsible for all operational run activities across Applications, Operational Technology, Service Management and Infrastructure.
The IT Infrastructure team is responsible for IT infrastructure services to the business across a wide range of functions including maintenance of existing systems and IT infrastructure, release management, configuration management, IT disaster recovery, vendor management, security infrastructure management, IT standards compliance and quality assurance. The team guide resources, facilitate team demand management and capacity planning, and manage the sequencing and operational interdependencies of all IT Operations related initiatives. The infrastructure team also manages the data centres and IT infrastructure for UÉ, including IT availability and IT continuity.
Reporting to the Datacentre Technical Lead, the Datacentre Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the datacentre’s reliability, security and efficiency, by supporting the management of the datacentre’s operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide IT support to stakeholders and respond to server and network issues
- Ensure the protection of UÉ data by preventing the overheating of datacentre components
- Support the implementation and maintenance of robust security measures to protect data, systems and infrastructure from potential threats
- Continuously monitor datacentre performance, identify issues and lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently and effectively
- Collaborate with IT and network engineers on cybersecurity and network efficiency
- Ensure compliance to relevant datacentre standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of datacentre procedures and processes
- Maintain ongoing relationships with IT Business Partnering, Applications, Cyber Security, IT Service Management, and wider IT Infrastructure teams to coordinate IT Operations, Availability and Performance
- Proactively budget, forecast and procure hardware to meet Uisce Éireann’s infrastructure needs with prompt delivery to ensure IT capacity meets business needs
- Work collaboratively with Cyber Security, Architecture and Build & Delivery teams to maintain and deliver secure IT systems, solutions and data for Uisce Éireann
- Support the implementation of architecture principles and standards within the datacentre team
- Support the management of service performance and resource‑related performance to ensure that service availability meets or exceeds the agreed targets
- Support the management of service continuity and back‑ups, maintaining and rehearsing a set of plans to support the overall Uisce Éireann business continuity plans implementing measures to improve the availability of services where possible
- Engage proactively with business stakeholders, participate in relevant business facing meetings and develop strong working relationships with IT customers
- Provide out‑of‑hours cover as part of the Standby Rota and participate in out of hours work as required.
- Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation‑wide objectives
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
- Other duties as required
- Preferred experience with VMware vSphere, Redhat Linux and Microsoft Windows
- Preferred experience with configuring servers, replacing hardware components such as disks, and network cabling.
- Preferred experience in enterprise storage arrays such as Dell’s VxBlock/ Powerflex and VxRail Converged and Hyperconverged a bonus.
- Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience
- Experience managing a team, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally
- Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others
- Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results within a team.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
- Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
- Proactively identifying new areas of improvement and using newly gained knowledge and skill on the job
