Shape Your Next Chapter in Small Animal Practice
Role
Veterinary Practitioner – Small Animal
Value Vets is seeking a confident, capable Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, close-knit team in a permanent role that offers autonomy, stability and real job satisfaction. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality care, build strong client relationships, and be a key clinical presence in a busy, well-run practice. We are open to flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours.
About the Practice
Value Vets is a well-established small animal clinic with a strong local reputation for compassionate, high-standard veterinary care that remains accessible and affordable. The clinic is modern and well-equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, kennelling facilities, and up-to-date diagnostic tools to support medical and surgical cases. The small team includes one other experienced vet, a veterinary nurse, and a dedicated receptionist, fostering a supportive, collaborative environment.
Your Day-to-Day
Expect a varied caseload with a mix of consultations, routine surgery, diagnostics (including dentistry, imaging and blood work), and ongoing case management. You will advise and support pet owners to help them make informed health decisions. As part of a small team, you’ll contribute to running the branch, maintaining clinical standards, ensuring smooth operations, and collaborating with nursing and support staff to deliver excellent care.
Work–Life Balance
The rota is designed with balance in mind: Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays and 1 in 8 Sundays. There is no out-of-hours work, and only two bank holidays per year. Part-time and flexible working arrangements are welcome.
Who Will Thrive Here
VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon with solid experience in first-opinion small animal practice. There are sole-charge elements within a two-vet setup, so you should be confident in routine consultations and surgery. This role is best suited to an established GP vet rather than a new graduate, but autonomy, responsibility and trusted clinical leadership will help you thrive.
Qualifications
• VCI registration in good standing and proven experience in small animal practice. • Comfortable with sole charge in a two-vet team and capable of handling routine consultations and surgery.
