We have been a certified Great Place to Work for the last three years in a row, and we have an opening for a Systems Administrator in our beautiful, LEEDS Gold location in West Chicago.
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for administering and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure and business systems. This role goes beyond day-to-day support to take ownership of core infrastructure components, assist with IT projects, and continue to develop the technical depth. The IT Systems Administrator ensures the reliability, security, and performance of network, server, and end-user computing environments while serving as a key technical resource for the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain core IT infrastructure, including directory services (Active Directory), wired and wireless networking, server infrastructure, websites and hosting, audiovisual equipment, and cybersecurity platforms. Monitor, troubleshoot, resolve, and perform root cause analysis for IT incidents and service requests; escalate complex issues as needed and communicate status to affected users. Administer and support the organization's Microsoft 365 tenant, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Azure Active Directory. Manage and maintain enterprise backup and recovery systems; assist with disaster recovery planning and testing. Create, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system diagrams; provide technical training for end users. Support cybersecurity monitoring, security tool management, and adherence to established security controls and policies. Coordinate with IT vendors and third-party service providers to ensure service levels are met, and activities are aligned with organizational needs. Provide support for the organization's ERP and other critical business systems; develop technical skills to serve as a backup resource for key enterprise applications. Assist in the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of new hardware and software technologies to accomplish business objectives. Monitor system performance and assist with capacity planning for assigned IT infrastructure and services. Ability to adhere to the company's attendance policy, including regular and punctual attendance Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to users at all levels of the organization. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Azure Active Directory. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (desktop and server) and associated technologies, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. Experience with business-class hardware and networking equipment, including desktops, servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, security tools, and incident response procedures. Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and the OSI model. Experience with or actively developing skills in the following (preferred): scripting languages (PowerShell or similar), cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure), virtualization technologies (VMware or Hyper-V), and enterprise backup solutions. Familiarity with ERP or other enterprise business systems is a plus. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
Education/Experience:
A bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. 2-4 years of experience in an IT support or systems administration role is required.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires visual acuity to read labels and fine print, manual dexterity to configure equipment and be proficient with a keyboard/mouse, and mobility for extended periods of standing, walking, and crouching when necessary. Additional requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds (servers, computers, and other IT equipment) as well as the ability to work at heights to service wireless access points, security cameras, and other IT equipment.
This position will be available for a hybrid work schedule (2 days home, 3 days in office.)
Schedule is typically Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm
This position is Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The salary range is $75,000 - $85,000 with a bonus opportunity of up to 10% based on achieving company goals.
