Job Summary

The Estimator plays a pivotal role within our organization. They ensure that the customer’s needs are met and the jobs are accurately analyzed to ensure profitability for the project’s duration. The Estimator is responsible for reviewing drawings, technical documents and other associated documentation to complete take-offs, pricing and ultimately a quote through partnering with other key functional areas such as outside sales, production, and transportation in a timely manner.

Estimators are individuals who are highly organized, extremely detailed oriented and can manage RFQ’s at multiple levels.

Job Responsibilities

• Partner with outside sales and project management to ensure quotes are completed on time.
• Establish a daily priority list accounting for changes guaranteeing customers’ expectations are met.
• Complete take-offs and quotes for all RFQ’s brought in by the outside sales team.
• Send quote to outside sales rep before due date, ensure outside salesperson is copied on all correspondence with the customer along the way.
• Communicate with the customers directly and send RFIs to engineers, ensuring accurate estimates.
• Work with the sales and project management team on proposal strategy, change order modifications and project requirements.
• Obtain pricing from vendors for accessory items and incorporate into proposals.
• Manage bids that range in size and complexity simultaneously.
• Review and analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare cost and labor estimates for products, projects or services.
• Utilize price list established in the ERP system updated by sales manager.
• Assist in development of improvement initiatives across business functions such as historical data in ERP, intercompany communication, and delivery of final quote to the customer.
• Work with outside sales to ensure quote is delivered properly and all facets are understood.
• Work in fast paced environment.

Requirements

• BS / AA or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of how to read and interpret schematics and engineering drawings
• Construction and/or bidding experience a plus but not required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office—Excel and Word
• Ability to multi-task
