WELBRO Building Corporation has a career opportunity for a Superintendent with education (K-12), hospitality, or industrial (distribution centers) project experience in Central Florida.  The individual will oversee the activities of field staff and subcontractors to ensure the construction processes are executed in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.  Responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of construction efforts in coordination with Project Manager, Assistant Superintendents, and Project Engineers. Coordinates the day-to-day scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment for all work on the project. Ensure compliance with safety management program, environmental requirements and quality standards. Effectively represent WELBRO when interfacing with project stakeholders including the Owner and Design team.


Key Duties

  • Provides liaison and leadership between project management, site management, and preconstruction to ensure construction complies with plans, specifications, and company quality standards and that the project is completed on time and within budget.
  • Interfaces with owner, architect and design professionals as needed to ensure compliance to design intent and owner satisfaction. Facilitates discovery and correction of contract document "errors and omissions" and leads in facilitating problem-solving to reduce the cost incurred.
  • Ensures implementation of WELBRO’s Safety Program to create a safe and healthy work environment throughout the jobsite and ensures adherence to OSHA safety and record keeping requirements.
  • Orchestrates the development of a thoughtful project pre-plan which includes a CPM schedule, work sequence, manpower utilization, material handling, material storage requirements, and equipment utilization.
  • Leads all Site Managers assigned to the project.
  • Establishes and enforces policies and practices for delivery, staging, controlling, and allocating materials and common facilities to accommodate each area’s Site Manager needs.
  • Coaches and mentors Superintendents, Assistant Site Managers and Field Engineers on productivity issues and monitors their work performance.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal and external record-keeping requirements, with particular emphasis on accurately coded, fully-priced delivery tickets for all deliveries.
  • Ensures site management utilizes the Construction Management System to perform record-keeping tasks including, but not limited to, composing daily diaries, maintaining project logs, (i.e., concrete, equipment, material) and retrieving RFIs, submittal logs, and agreements.
  • Partners with senior level management to resolve problems, work interference, or schedule difficulties. Assists Superintendents in identifying potential conflicts and methods for circumventing.
  • Executes company’s performance review processes with direct reports. Regularly provides performance feedback, continuously supports opportunities for professional growth, and conducts annual performance reviews and check-ins; creates and supports individual development plans by the established deadlines.
  • Oversees and executes on-the-job training and development initiatives for Tradesman, Trades Supervisors, Field Engineers, and Assistant Superintendents. Identifies and promotes those who demonstrate strong performance, sound behavior, and significant potential to lead. Creates individual development plans and provides opportunities for direct reports to further their career.
  • Develops and maintains 2‐week / 3‐week look‐ahead schedules, short‐interval plans aligned to the CPM baseline. Sequences subcontractors to protect the critical path. Holds trade partners accountable to scheduled durations. Identifies conflicts and recommend resequencing.
  • Schedules and develops subcontractor pre-con and weekly sub meetings.
  • Attends weekly jobsite safety walks with WELBRO’s Safety Manager and actively responds to the reports.
  • Develops and coordinates with Project Manager a weekly WELBRO project staff meeting.
  • Completes weekly Superintendents reports and shares with WELBRO Operation Managers.
  • Assists Project Managers on scope development.
  • Reviews and understands owner and subcontractor agreements.
  • Attends project OAC meetings with Project Manager to discuss and coordinate field items.
  • Attends monthly pay app review with Project manager to review financial status.

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent years of technical training
  • Ten (10) years experience in a supervisor role for a commercial general contractor
  • Twelve (12) years experience working on commercial building projects, industrial, or education facilities
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage field supervisors, craft employees, and subcontractors
  • Well-rounded knowledge in all aspects of construction, but in-depth expertise in commercial buildings, craft activities, cost control, scheduling, and safety
  • Read and interpret the project master CPM schedule. Identify critical path activities and near‐critical work. Understand float, logic ties, constraints, and milestones. Recognize schedule risk created by field conditions
  • Proficient in technology, scheduling, and project management software applications such as Primavera P6 and BIM 360 preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and adheres to all safety regulations and procedures.
