Reporting to the owner, the commercial estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction projects, defining the scope and timeline, calculating material quantities, labor and equipment, and creating a detailed, accurate cost estimate. 

Essential Responsibilities

Interpret detailed project specifications and architectural plans, to ensure precise construction bid packets.

Analyze project plans, specifications, materials, and construction methods to fully understand the scope of each project.

Participate in job walks and collaborate with design teams to clarify project intent.

Prepare and update proposal versions as client needs evolve, documenting scope and pricing changes.

Build and maintain strong subcontractor and supplier relationships.

Create bid packages and Invitations to Bid for subcontractors.

Recommend cost-saving solutions without compromising quality or project integrity.

Organize, price, and finalize estimates for client submission.

Essential Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Commensurate experience may be accepted.

Minimum of 5 years of experience with commercial construction estimating.

Strong understanding of building codes, commercial construction practices, and blueprint reading.

Knowledge of civil and underground work, tied to site development

Proven track record of accurate, timely estimates and high client satisfaction

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam or AutoCAD

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Professional demeanor and ability to work independently under pressure.

Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems on-site.

Advanced knowledge of commercial renovation terminology and specialized steel construction.
