Quality Engineer

Weltec Engineering are looking to hire aQuality Engineer to join our team in Waterford. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and processes across our operations. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a strong foundation in quality assurance and a desire to progress within a dynamic engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct internal system and process quality audits to verify compliance with established SOPs, and quality standards across all departments & sites.
• Support ISO 9001 certification, surveillance audits, and ongoing compliance activities.
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating SOPs, Work Instructions, and quality documentation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection and quality records
• Support Test Pack for various Systems across Projects.
• Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
• Conduct root-cause analysis and apply structured problem-solving tools such as 8D and Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams.
• Support the development of quality improvement programs and initiatives to reduce defects and enhance process efficiency.
• Liaise with all internal departments to drive cross-functional quality improvements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors on corrective actions, quality concerns, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Provide quality awareness, systems training, and process coaching to site teams.
• Support the Quality Manager in achieving contract quality objectives and project-specific quality deliverables.

Key Skills and Competencies:

• 2 –5 years’ experience in a Quality Engineer role.
• Strong experience with quality tools and problem‑solving methodologies.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and cross‑functionally.
• Industry experience in engineering, mechanical, electrical, or construction environments.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement training.
• Understanding of welding standards (ISO 9606, ISO 5817).
• Knowledge of EN 1090 certification.
