Senior Transportation Manager

POSITION TITLE: SENIOR MANAGER OF TRANSPORTATION

LOCATION: MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO

A well known and respected food manufacturer / distributor has an immediate opening for a Senior Manager of Transportation. This fantastic opportunity is both strategic and tactical, requiring background in both operations management and project management. Our client offers solid prospects for career advancement as well as a strong compensation and benefits package.

As Senior Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for establishing transportation strategy, managing the RFP process, managing KPI’s and carrier scorecards. You will also be indirectly responsible dispatch and driver management. The drivers are unionized, and driver management will be escalated to the senior manager, so union experience is a key requirement for this role.

The company does direct-to-store deliveries across Canada, so the transportation is quite complex. We are looking for someone experienced with TMS, who can set up and monitor KPI’s. Experience managing outside carriers as well as exposure to private fleet is preferred.

In addition, there are some strategic projects around systems implementation and centralization of certain transportation functions, making this a highly strategic and exciting opportunity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of transportation management experience.
• Proven ability to bring value through strategic collaboration with a senior leadership team.
• Experienced managing both carrier relationships and private fleets (driver management / dispatch management experience is a must-have).
• Tech-savvy, good with excel, experienced with transportation management systems, able to set up and monitor KPI’s.
• Union experience and temperature control experience is a must.
• Project management and systems implementation experience is another key requirement.
• University Degree and professional designation CCLP (CITT) preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $120,000 - $145,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree preferred. CCLP (CITT) or P.Log would be a definite asset.
