Job Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor – Distribution is responsible for overseeing daily operations within a fast paced distribution center, ensuring accurate, timely, and cost effective movement of goods to customers and retail locations. This role leads warehouse associates across inbound, outbound, and cross dock functions while maintaining strict adherence to Ontario health and safety regulations, service level agreements (SLAs), and productivity targets.

Key Responsibilities

Distribution Operations

• Supervise inbound receiving, outbound shipping, order fulfillment, and cross dock activities

• Ensure orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time to meet customer and carrier cutoff times

• Coordinate daily dock schedules, trailer movements, and yard activities

• Monitor order volumes and adjust labor to meet fluctuating demand and peak periods

Inventory & Accuracy

• Ensure real time inventory accuracy through proper receiving, slotting, scanning, and cycle counting

• Investigate and resolve shortages, overages, damages, and shipping discrepancies

• Support inventory control processes and annual physical counts

Leadership & Performance Management

• Lead, coach, and motivate warehouse associates in a high throughput distribution environment

• Assign work, manage schedules, approve timecards, and ensure coverage across shifts

• Conduct performance reviews and address productivity, attendance, and conduct issues

• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Enforce compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)

• Ensure safe operation of material handling equipment (forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, conveyors)

• Conduct safety talks, inspections, and incident investigations

• Ensure WHMIS, PPE usage, and all mandatory safety training are completed

Systems, KPIs & Reporting

• Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track orders, labor, and inventory

• Monitor and report on key distribution KPIs (order accuracy, on time shipment, pick rates, dock efficiency)

• Identify process improvements to increase throughput, reduce errors, and control costs

Carrier & Customer Coordination

• Consult with transportation teams, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth outbound execution

• Resolve shipping delays, damages, or customer service issues related to distribution operations

• Support peak season planning and execution

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (post secondary education in logistics, supply chain, or operations preferred)

• 3–5 years of experience in a distribution center or high volume warehouse environment

• 1–3 years of supervisory or lead hand experience

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of distribution workflows and outbound fulfillment

• Proven leadership and team management skills

• Ability to manage priorities in a deadline driven, high volume environment

• Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills

• Working knowledge of WMS, RF scanners, and basic Microsoft Office tools

Certifications (Required or Asset)

• Forklift certification (counterbalance and/or reach)

• WHMIS certification

• Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) certification (asset)

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and repetitive movements

• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and peak seasons

• Fast paced distribution center environment with variable temperatures and noise levels
