Reports to the CEO

Is located in: Ireland or UK (Hybrid)

It’s focus: To develop, maintain and have oversight of the performance of a profitable and growing book of non-life insurance business.This will include management of performance of existing schemes and production of sustainable pricing structures and proposals for new products and new business opportunities.

• Develop and execute a clear underwriting and pricing strategy across the White Horse business
• Ensure underwriting and pricing policies and procedures and governance frameworks adhere to company guidelines, regulatory requirements, internal controls and best practice
• Facilitate and contribute to meetings of pricing & underwriting committee, other technical committees and subject matter expert groups; ensuring clear communication and productive discussions which lead to informed decisions.
• Develop underwriting analytical MI and pricing methodologies (automated and or manual) which make best use of the available data sets to provide for the best underwriting performance possible for the business
• Collaborate with commercial team to develop compelling new business proposals to prospective distribution partners
• Provide detailed insight on underwriting performance.Recommend action required on all schemes to achieve underwriting profitability targets.
• Research and contribute to the development and implementation of new product areas. This includes researching and staying current on industry trends in relevant technical areas.
• Carry out regular analysis of the competitive market including Retail, Affinity, Embedded, D2C and Aggregator.
• Respond to distribution partner’s underwriting queries in an accurate and timely fashion in line with the company’s risk appetite.

• Demonstrable experience in underwriting in non-life insurance
• CIP/ACII qualification would be an advantage

• 3+ years underwriting and/or pricing experience
