Job Title: Content Editor (Digital) Salary: c. £34,000 (Dependant on Skills and Experience) Location: Stoneleigh, Warwickshire with agile working Working Hours: 35 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent
The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) is the biggest farming organisation in the UK. We're proud to make a difference for all our members, by shaping attitudes towards British farming and leading the charge on a range of major issues, from climate change and food standards to rural crime and broadband rollout.
About you: We’re looking for a sharp, creative editor and writer who can turn complex food and farming content into engaging, accessible stories for our websites and print publications.
You’ll be a self‑starting, problem-solver who can quickly absorb technical information and shape it into clear, relevant, compelling stories for our members. Agricultural knowledge is a bonus, but enthusiasm for food and farming – and a willingness to learn – are essential.
You’ll love working in a fast‑paced environment, adapting complex issues at speed and translating them into accurate, readable copy.
About the role: Our website is the first place people go for trusted agricultural information; the work we do really matters.
A typical day might include helping to launch a campaign, simplifying complex farming guidance or working on digital reports and surveys – it’s varied and creative. And you get to see the impact of your work quickly, which allows you to refine what you do.
Our website, app and magazines reach more than 150,000 readers every month, keeping them informed about the current and future direction of British farming.
Our members want to understand how the NFU is working on their behalf, and they rely on us for the information that helps them run their businesses. Your job is to anticipate what farmers need to know and deliver it through clear, engaging content.
You’ll work closely with policy teams to communicate our messages, and you’ll research and write features for both online and print channels.
You’ll also manage our weekly digital Bulletin, so experience with content management systems and email marketing tools is essential.
Strong sub‑editing skills are a must. You’ll use a consistent, authentic voice that resonates with our membership, and you’ll be confident querying colleagues’ material to ensure clarity and accuracy.
You’ll be highly organised, comfortable working to tight deadlines, and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
A solid understanding of content design, user journeys, SEO and web standards is important for success in this role.
Why choose us? Join us and you’ll find an organisation that encourages and enables you to achieve your full potential. In return you will be rewarded with a full range of benefits including:
Generous holiday allowance (starting at 25 days a year pro rata + Bank Holidays, rising to 30 days pro rata with length of service), plus 1 annual Christmas company day Option to buy and sell up to 5 days annual leave Company funded health Cashplan to help with everyday costs; dental, optical, physiotherapy etc. Health insurance Enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave Performance-related pay Competitive Pension and Life assurance (4 x Salary) Access to interest-free loans for cars, bikes, season tickets and driving lessons Employee Assistance program to help you deal with life’s challenges Discounts on a range of new vehicles, holiday rentals, wellbeing and lifestyle and many more Attractive, modern office, with on-site restaurant and free parking
You will become part of our friendly, dedicated working environment and work with a highly motivated team, recognised for their knowledge and expertise and passion about food and farming.
At the NFU, we embrace the unique worth of everyone from all backgrounds, identities and circumstance. As a Professional, Resourceful, United and Inclusive organisation, we strive to celebrate all individuals.
We are committed to creating a sense of belonging, educating and developing an inclusive community, and welcoming the value of diversity.
Successful candidates will need their own reliable transport, as public transport is not frequently available to the beautiful work setting of Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
We’re committed to recruiting a diverse and highly-talented workforce. We’ll support you by providing you with extensive learning and development opportunities and build a career that balances your professional ambitions with your personal commitments including discussions around agile and flexible work options.
We encourage candidates to submit their applications as early as possible and not to wait until the published closing date. We reserve the right to remove this advert or close it to further applications at any point during the recruitment process.
