We are seeking a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Detroit, Michigan. The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for preparing, processing, and tracking outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all stages of the shipping process. This role is crucial for maintaining the smooth flow of goods and upholding our commitment to timely delivery. You will work closely with the warehouse and logistics departments to coordinate the movement of inventory and fulfill customer orders accurately and promptly.
Responsibilities:
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipment details against orders.
- Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and other required documentation.
- Inspect outgoing packages for damage and ensure proper packaging standards are met.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including weight, dimensions, and destination.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners regarding shipment status.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and discrepancies as needed.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment as required, following all safety guidelines.
- Support the logistics team in resolving any shipping-related issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a related logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and basic computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks including Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
