Job Requirements
Position: Project Manager – Grid Automation (Protection & Automation Systems, Digital Substations, Field Services)
Mission
Management of end-to-end Grid Automation projects across Canada, including Protection & Automation systems, Digital Substations, and Field Services. The Project Manager ensures financial and contractual performance, risk mitigation, and customer satisfaction while leading multidisciplinary teams.
Day‑to‑day Activities (Examples)
- Execute projects with high standards in efficiency, on‑time delivery, scope management, and financial goals following PMH rules.
- Contribute to operational performance by providing accurate financial forecasts (Sales, Cash, Margin).
- Develop and maintain customer relationships using effective communication skills.
- Manage project execution from tender phase to warranty closure.
- Serve as the primary customer contact for contract execution.
- Collaborate with engineering, contract admin, contract management, finance, procurement, and support functions.
- Be accountable for On‑Time Delivery, Sales and cash‑in realization, accurate forecasting, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
- Follow Project Management Handbook best practices and product‑line guidance.
- Prepare and present monthly updates, action plans, and sales/cash forecasts.
- Lead EHS/Safety performance, ensuring compliance with GE rules and qualification requirements for all project teams.
- Follow GE compliance policies (“The Spirit and The Letter”) and promote open reporting.
- Support the Commercial team during pre‑contract processes, provide return of experience, and help optimize project costs and deliveries.
Candidate Requirements
Must‑haves (3–5):
- 3+ years of project Management experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electricity grid engineering, project management, or related industry.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- Proven experience managing projects with cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
- PMP certification.
- Experience in electricity transmission, distribution, or industrial automation.
- Familiarity with Digital Substation and Protection & Control activities.
- Experience in multicultural or expatriate environments.
- Experience working in field service or customer-facing projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Tools / Software / Methodology / Certification:
- Project Management Handbook (PMH), MS Project, ERP tools.
- PMP certification (asset).
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-oriented mindset with effective communication.
- Ability to coordinate and motivate diverse teams.
- Organized, rigorous, autonomous.
