Building on our continued growth in Canada, NRC is seeking expressions of interest from experienced rail and railroad professionals to join our Toronto-based team as part of a long-term talent pool.
This opportunity is suited to professionals with strong practical rail or transit experience who enjoy solving complex problems, working collaboratively across disciplines, and contributing to the successful delivery of major transportation and infrastructure projects.
You will work within a small, highly experienced team providing advisory, technical, and delivery support across passenger rail, commuter rail, light rail, metro, and freight railroad environments. Our work spans the full project lifecycle, from early advisory and feasibility through design development, delivery support, assurance, and operational readiness.
Through our work in Canada and North America, we support public and private sector clients to improve performance, deliver complex programs, and implement sustainable improvements across rail and railroad systems.

Key Accountabilities:
As a Managing Consultant, you will typically be accountable for:
- Delivering defined work packages or projects to agreed scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards
- Providing technical and operational expertise within your discipline, applying best practice to client challenges
- Working directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and support effective decision-making
- Contributing to multidisciplinary project teams, including coordinating inputs across technical disciplines
- Supporting the development of proposals, bids, and client presentations
- Mentoring and supporting junior consultants and analysts
- Proactively managing risks, issues, and dependencies within your area of responsibility
- Upholding NRC’s safety culture, values, and professional standards in all client engagements

- Proven experience in the rail or railroad sector, within a consultancy, railway, transit authority, or contractor environment
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on complex, safety-critical infrastructure projects
- The ability to engage professionally with clients and technical stakeholders
- A solutions-focused approach to technical and operational challenges
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience delivering work to agreed budgets, schedules, and quality standards
