About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Senior Production Supervisor provides leadership across multiple production areas, ensuring consistent achievement of safety, quality, and efficiency goals. This role combines day-to-day supervision with advanced technical expertise, troubleshooting complex processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Senior Supervisor mentors other supervisors and operators, ensures regulatory and food safety compliance, and works closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance to optimize plant performance.


Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Food Engineering, or related discipline, OR equivalent experience in food manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory role experience, with at least 2 years in a dairy or infant formula industry.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and Food safety.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification is considered as an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop teams, drive results, and foster a positive work culture.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, MES/ERP systems.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to shift supervisors and production teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
  • Monitor and improve performance in key areas: safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Lead problem-solving and troubleshooting for milk receiving, pre-treatment, evaporation, drying, and packaging operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with GMPs, SOPs, HACCP, OHSA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Investigate incidents, deviations, and quality issues; develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Establish and enforce consistent start-up, shutdown, sanitation, and changeover procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor production staff; support employee development through training and performance management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process improvement, cost reduction, and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Support Quality and Food Safety policies, including traceability, holds, and recall readiness.
  • Act as a key liaison between production and management, providing accurate reporting and recommendations for operational improvements.


Working Conditions

  • This role is required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays depending on operational needs.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment with noise, heat, and processing equipment.
  • Requires PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, hard hats).
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 25 kg.
