Architectural Technologist / Drafter

Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid)

Industry: Commercial / Retail Development

We are currently seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist / Drafter with strong Revit expertise to join a growing design team in Calgary. This is a hybrid role supporting a diverse portfolio of commercial and retail developments across Western Canada.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong professional who understands the pace, coordination, and documentation requirements of commercial retail environments.

This position will start fully in-office and transition to a hybrid / remote work arrangement following successful completion of the initial probation period.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and produce detailed drawing packages using Revit
• Prepare permit, tender, and construction drawings (IFP / IFC)
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and project teams
• Ensure drawings comply with Alberta Building Code and applicable Western Canadian regulations
• Participate in design development, detailing, and construction administration support
• Revise drawings based on site feedback, RFIs, and consultant coordination

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology (or related discipline)
• 2–7+ years of experience in commercial architectural drafting, of which min of 2yrs in Alberta
• Advanced proficiency in Revit (mandatory)
• Strong experience in commercial and retail projects , including: Retail plazas, Restaurants, Gas stations / quick-service builds, Warehouses, Commercial Tenant improvements
• Western Canada project experience preferred (Alberta strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of building envelope detailing and construction methods
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

What We’re Looking For

• Technically strong Revit user who can produce clean, accurate drawing sets
• Experience working in the Canadian commercial environment (residential/high-rise not the focus)
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and collaborative
• Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (Calgary-based)

Location & Work Arrangement

• This role is based in Calgary, Alberta
• Candidates must be currently located in the Calgary area
• Position will start in-office and then Transition to a hybrid work model following successful completion of the initial probation period

Preferred / Asset Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced architectural or design-build environment
• Exposure to industrial or large-scale commercial projects
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently while meeting project deadlines
