Job Summary
We are seeking a Class 2 Flight Instructor to join our growing flight training operation in Orillia, Ontario. This position is well suited to an instructor who enjoys a varied training environment, including float flying, tailwheel operations, glass cockpit aircraft, and traditional steam-gauge instruction, and who is interested in supporting and mentoring junior instructors while maintaining strong training standards.
This is a newly established operation located in a scenic and historic aviation setting that has been active since 1954. We are building a collaborative and professional training environment and look forward to welcoming instructors who are passionate about teaching and growing with the operation.
Airports:
- Orillia Rama Regional Airport (CNJ4) – Wheels / Tailwheel
- Orillia’s only Seaplane Base Lake St. John (CNV6) – Float Endorsements
Aircraft:
- Cessna 172 on Wheels Glass Cockpit
- Cessna 172 Traditionally equipped analog gauges
- Cessna 172 180 Hp on Floats
- Tailwheel aircraft
Responsibilities:
Deliver flight and ground instruction in accordance with Transport Canada regulations
Provide instruction on:
- Cessna 172 on wheels glass cockpit
- Cessna 172 on wheels analog gauges
- Cessna 172 on floats
- Tailwheel aircraft
Conduct training for:
- Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
- Night Rating
- VFR OTT
- Seaplane Rating
- Tailwheel endorsements
- Conduct student progress checks and training reviews
- Maintain training records, PTRs, and company SOP compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and professional training environment
Qualifications:
- Valid Canadian Class 2 Flight Instructor Rating
- Valid CPL
- Current Category Medical
- Demonstrated experience instructing on Cessna 172
Strong knowledge of:
- Float operations
- Tailwheel handling techniques
- Traditional Cessna 172 flying
- Glass cockpit avionics
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Professional, safety-first attitude
Assets:
- Significant float time and seaplane instructional experience
- Tailwheel instructional experience
- Experience teaching in glass cockpit environments
- Experience supervising junior instructors
- Ability to teach year-round (seasonal float operations in summer)
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $40 – $55+/hour, based on experience and qualifications
