We are hiring a skilled Forklift Operator for our busy distribution center in Detroit, Michigan. This role is essential for maintaining the smooth flow of goods within our logistics operations. You will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts to move, stack, load, and unload materials throughout the warehouse. Ensuring the safe and efficient handling of products is paramount. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of operating forklifts in a warehouse setting and a strong commitment to workplace safety. You will work closely with other warehouse associates and supervisors to ensure operational efficiency. This position requires a keen awareness of your surroundings, excellent maneuvering skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols, including the mandatory use of PPE. Experience with different types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) is highly desirable. A valid forklift operator certification is required. This role involves regular lifting and physical exertion in addition to forklift operation. Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts to move, stack, load, and unload materials.
- Transport goods from receiving to storage areas and from storage to shipping docks.
- Perform pre-operation inspections of forklifts and report any issues.
- Maintain an organized and safe working environment in designated areas.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counts as needed.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and accurately.
- Follow all logistics procedures and instructions from supervisors.
- Participate in regular safety training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse environment.
- Proven ability to safely maneuver forklifts in congested areas.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and good spatial awareness.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Commitment to adhering to all safety guidelines and wearing required PPE.
