We are recruiting a diligent Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is vital for ensuring the accurate and timely dispatch of all outgoing shipments. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for preparing shipments, managing documentation, and coordinating with carriers to maintain the smooth flow of goods. If you possess excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, this position offers a great opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately process and prepare all outgoing shipments, verifying contents against orders.
- Generate shipping labels, packing lists, and other required documentation.
- Inspect packages for proper sealing, labeling, and damage prior to dispatch.
- Liaise with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track deliveries.
- Maintain precise records of all shipments, including weight, destination, and tracking information.
- Communicate shipping status updates to relevant departments and stakeholders.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist in other warehouse operations as needed to support the overall logistics chain.
- Handle packages and materials requiring safe Lifting and maneuvering.
- Contribute to a positive and efficient warehouse environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a related logistics field is preferred.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and standard office applications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical capacity to perform tasks including Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Solid understanding of warehouse safety practices and the mandatory use of PPE.
