As an Electrical Project Manager, the successful candidate will lead the delivery of renewable energy and substation projects across Ireland, ensuring compliance with Irish grid standards, ESB Networks/EirGrid requirements, and national health and safety legislation. The role covers planning, engineering coordination, contractor management, commissioning, and project delivery across wind, solar, BESS, and HV/MV substation projects.

It's a nationwide role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage renewable and substation projects from concept to commissioning in line with ESB Networks/EirGrid technical standards and approvals.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments in accordance with Irish construction and CDM regulations.
- Lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with Irish grid codes and local authority requirements.
- Coordinate HV/MV installation, protection settings, SCADA integration, and grid connection works.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with Construction Regulations and ISO procedures.
- Carry out H&S audits, toolbox talks, and ensure HV safety rules are followed (including Safe Systems of Work under ESBN protocols).
- Manage QA documentation, testing records, and adherence to CER/CRU guidelines.
- Lead procurement of electrical equipment: transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cables, and civil works packages.
- Review tenders, negotiate pricing, and oversee contract performance in line with Irish public/private procurement practices.
- Track project financials and support commercial teams with claims, variations, and forecasting.
- Oversee FAT/SAT, protection testing, relay settings, and energisation with ESB/EirGrid representatives.
- Ensure all as‑built drawings, O&M manuals, H&S files, and commissioning reports are completed for handover.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- EU Driving License
- Right to work in Ireland
- Experience in people and line leadership
- Demonstrable client‑facing skills with a client‑oriented approach
- Commercially astute
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to work within a teamExcellent Communication, Interpersonal, Organisational & Planning Skills
- Able to balance competing priorities and meet personal targets within a fluctuating & demanding workload
Knowledge:
- 7 + years’ experience with MV & HV electrical substation design and installation up to 132 kV
- Excellent understanding of the relevant IEEE/IEC Standards
- Direct experience in substations, grid connections, renewables, or utility networks.
- Knowledge of ESB/EirGrid connection processes and Irish construction regulations.
- Full clean driving licence (required).
- Fundamental understanding of critical LV electrical equipment
- Proficient use and knowledge of software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD
- Ability to evidence recent relevant senior & people leadership experience
