YouwillbringexpertiseinPHP,JavaScript,andmodernwebtechnologies,alongsideprovenleadershipindeliveringscalable,reliable,anduser-focusedwebapplications.
Theidealcandidateisbothastrongtechnicalleaderandacollaborativepartner.Thisisaroleforsomeonewhothrivesonbalancingday-to-daydeliverywithteamleadershipinthecontextofoursmallwebteamof4people.Weareseekingsomeonewhocanbridgeproductandengineeringtoensurethatthewebteamdeliverschangesthatarecleanandrobust.
Responsibilities
- Delivery:Directcycleplanning,prioritisation,andworkloadallocationforthewebteam,ensuringalignmentwithorganisationalgoals.Maintainmomentumonin-progresstasks,confirmcompletionstandardsaremet,andself-assigntaskswhereappropriate.
- TeamLeadership:Provideleadershipandtechnicaldirectiontothewebteam,proactivelyremovingblockersandsupportingprofessionalgrowth.Coachteammembersontechnicalmatters,promoteknowledgesharing,andupholdacultureofcollaboration,accountability,andcontinuousimprovement.Participateintheon-callrotaduringhigh-demandorhigh-trafficperiods.
- Maintenance&Improvement:Balancemaintenanceactivitieswithproductandeditorialpriorities.Monitorlogsandsystemalerts,addressingissuespromptly.Systematicallymanagetechnicaldebt,ensuredocumentationstandardsareupheld,andproposeimprovementstobothapplicationsandworkflows.
- Collaboration:Conductregularreviewsofpullrequeststoensurecodequalityandadherencetobestpractices.Supportknowledgetransferthroughpairingandensemblesessions.Actasaliaisonbetweenengineering,product,design,andeditorialteamstoensureclarityofrequirementsandeffectivedelivery.
- TechnicalOversight&Standards:Enforcerobustcoding,testing,anddeploymentpractices.Ensurestakeholderrequirementsaremet,designimplementationsmatchspecifications,andthatpost-releasemonitoringisinplacetodetectregressions.
Requirements
- Provenexperienceinawebmanagementorseniortechnicalleadershiprole.
- FluentinPHP,JavaScript,andtheecosystemoftechnologiesrequiredtobuildandmaintainmodern,scalablewebapplications.
- Deepunderstandingofcodingstandards,testingmethodologies,deploymentpipelines,andmonitoringpractices.
- Experienceworkingwithlegacycode,improvingcurrentfeaturesandintroducingnewfunctionalitywithoutdiscardingtheexistingbehaviourthatissometimesobscured.
- Well-versedinsoftwareengineeringpracticessuchastest-drivendesign,refactoring,anddomain-drivendesign.
- Demonstratedabilitytomanagetechnicalteams,deliverycycles,andcross-functionalcollaboration.
- Experiencementoringdevelopersandcultivatingahigh-performanceengineeringculture.
- Strongproblem-solvingskillsandaproactiveapproachtomanagingtechnicaldebtandsystemhealth.
- Willingnesstoparticipateinon-callsupportforcriticalevents.
