Quality Control Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced QC Microbiology Team Lead to join a dynamic pharmaceutical/biotechnology site in Cork. This onsite role is ideal for a highly motivated professional with proven experience in QC microbiology, leadership, and compliance in a GMP environment.

The role involves leading a small team, overseeing laboratory operations, and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality microbiology testing in support of product release and regulatory compliance.

• Lead, mentor, and supervise QC Microbiology staff
• Implement and maintain methods, procedures, and compliance standards
• Oversee inspection, testing, and evaluation of microbiology samples
• Supervise investigations of deviations, complaints, and returned product
• Drive improvements in laboratory operations, quality metrics, and compliance
• Support audits and ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented
• Contribute to reporting, budget planning, and cost control initiatives
• Communicate department objectives and performance metrics effectively to the team

• Level 8 Degree in Microbiology or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in QC Microbiology
• At least 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry
• 1–2 years in a Team Lead or supervisory xcfaprz role
• Strong knowledge of GMP and quality control standards
• Proven leadership, mentoring, and team development experience
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus
