MES FLS Automation Engineer

SimoTechis seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Front-Line Support (FLS) team,providing on-site operational support at a large-scale greenfieldbiopharmaceutical facility in Limerick. The successful candidate will focus on troubleshooting and supporting day-to-day operations while upholding compliance with industry standards and site procedures.

Inthis role you will be a key member of the 24/7 Automation FLS Team tasked with providingreal-time MES support and performing preventative and corrective tasks acrossrecipes, batch execution, master data and system interfaces in accordance withGAMP and cGMP standards. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’experience working with Syncade MES in the life sciences sector, with stronghands-on troubleshooting and batch process support experience.

KeyResponsibilities

• Provide real-time technicalsupport for Syncade MES, including MES–DeltaV interactions andproduction-related issues.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolvebatch execution failures, workflow errors, and system integration faults tominimise downtime.
  
• Maintain MES master data,such as materials, equipment classes, statuses, and specifications.
  
• Ensure seamless operationof MES with DeltaV, SAP, weighing scales, printers, and other peripheraldevices.
  
• Monitor and maintain systemconnectivity, including OPC and other integration protocols, ensuring accurateand timely data exchange between MES and automation systems.
  
• Maintain equipmentworkflows, status diagrams, and event-state matrices to support efficientoperations and compliance.
  
• Support equipment tracking(ET) workflows, ensuring real-time equipment status updates and cleaningverification.
  
• Maintain audit-readydocumentation, including configuration history, change controls, and validationrecords.
  
• Prepare technical reportsand root cause analyses, providing recommendations for continuous improvementand system reliability.
  

Key Requirements

• Bachelorsdegree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences or equivalent.
  
• Aminimum of 5 years’ experience working with Syncade MES within thepharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
  
• Previouson-site experience supporting MES recipe troubleshooting, master data,equipment workflows or batch execution in GMP manufacturing is essential.
  
• Excellentdiagnostics skills with the ability to think laterally.
  
• Abilityto resolve complex automation issues in high-pressure, fast-paced manufacturingenvironments.
  
• Strongknowledge of S-88 Batch Standard is essential with onsite exposure to batchprocess preferred.
  
• Knowledgeand familiarity with regulated industry standards, including exposure to cGMP,GAMP and 21 CFR Part 11.
  
• Excellentcommunication skills and interpersonal skills with strong spoken and writtenEnglish.
  
• Willingto work 24/7/365 shift (alternating days and nights) and in an on-site teamenvironment.
  
• Willingto upskill across various technologies - DeltaV, PI, Siemens PLC’s, Desigo BMS
