Purchasing Manager / Strategist

JJ Rhatigan & Companyis one of Ireland’s leading Building Contractors, delivering award-winning, multi-million-euro projects across Ireland and the UK. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a commercially driven and strategic Purchasing Manager / Strategist to lead and develop our procurement function that will be based in our Galway Head Office.

This is a senior role focused on driving cost efficiencies, strengthening supplier partnerships and delivering measurable commercial value across the business.

• Develop and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to achieve improved rates through:

  • Volume discounts
  • Rebates
  • Structured payment agreements
• Lead and continuously challenge the development of a robust Master Price List
• Review and strategically manage global supply categories including energy, fuel, stationery, and other overheads
• Drive international procurement initiatives
• Lead, manage, and develop the Purchasing Department
• Deliver measurable cost-saving strategies aligned with company financial targets
• Build strong supplier relationships while ensuring competitive tension within the market

• Proven experience in strategic procurement or purchasing management
• Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated cost-saving achievements
• Experience negotiating high-value contracts and international sourcing
• Construction industry experience highly desirable
• Leadership experience managing and developing teams
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret spend xcfaprz data
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
