Staff Embedded Software Test Engineer

Their Cork engineering team is expanding and seeking a Staff Software Test Engineer to contribute to the validation of cutting-edge embedded security technologies.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining hands-on testing with software development, building automated test frameworks and validating secure system interactions across embedded platforms.

You will work closely with software developers, systems engineers, and security specialists to ensure the reliability and integrity of critical security features.

• Develop and execute test strategies and validation plans for embedded security features and cryptographic implementations.
  
• Create and maintain automated test frameworks and test tools using Python and C/C++
  
• Design and implement test applications at API and system level.
  
• Validate security protocols and algorithms and ensure correct integration with system components.
  
• Perform debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution on embedded software environments.
  
• Execute test suites and analyse results to identify potential system vulnerabilities or defects.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, systems architecture, and QA.
  
• Continuously improve automation coverage and testing efficiency.

• 6+ years of experience in software testing or software development in embedded environments.
  
• Strong programming experience with C and C++.
  
• Experience developing test automation using Python.
  
• Experience testing embedded systems or low-level software.
  
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a global engineering team.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Exposure to cryptography, secure boot, trusted execution environments, or security protocols.
  
• Experience testing hardware-software integrated systems.
  
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks or CI/CD pipelines.
