We are a privately owned mixed animal clinic in beautiful Northeast Michigan looking to add a motivated and driven doctor to our team of compassionate care givers. Alpena Veterinary Clinic, has a customer-centered approach to patient care with a tenacious desire to implement modern medicine.
The team at AVC provides medical, surgical, regenerative, and alternative medicine for mixed animals at two locations. The small animal clinic was remolded in 2022 and we look for ways to keep the equipment modern, for example we have just installed a new Vetsmart X-ray unit which calibrates itself. We have a separate facility for equines that provides advanced care for our area.
If you like adventure, the emergency duties will tickle your fancy! Emergency services are provided on a rotation with one weekend a month. Emergencies create opportunities to provide creative and in-depth veterinary care to clients express tremendous gratitude.
The area is also an outdoor enthusiast's dream full of state forests, lakes, and rivers that can be enjoyed during all four seasons. This is a rural community with a downtown social district for relaxing at a brewery or listening to local music. This community offers a lot of variety and has strong local business support. Therefore, our clinic takes an active role in giving back to the community through speaking opportunities and supporting local charities.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and their families through expert veterinary care.
*Responsibilities*
* Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess health status and identify medical conditions which will lead to diagnosis.
* Perform soft tissue surgery but not limited to soft tissue if candidate choses
* Maintain a high standard of handling techniques to promote comfort and cooperation during examinations.
* Educate pet owners on animal care, pet grooming, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
* Maintain detailed medical records, laboratory logs, and treatment plans while adhering to veterinary standards of animal care.
*Experience*
* Proven veterinary experience with a strong background in veterinary internal medicine and surgery is preferred.
* Experience working with diverse species including dogs, cats, horses, and other small or large animals is desired but not required.
* Working with a team in delivering exceptional veterinary services that prioritize animal welfare while fostering a supportive environment for pet owners. Your expertise will help ensure every animal receives compassionate care rooted in professionalism and technical excellence!
We are offering a competitive salary based on experience ($90-150,000), mentorship, Insurance, retirement plan, paid vacation, CE, and a talented group of people to work with.
