We are seeking a Lead Mobile Application Engineer This is a hybrid position where you will be expected to work onsite at the Austin Innovation Technical Center, GM Global Technical Center, or Sunnyvale Technical Center a minimum of three days per week. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create innovative mobile applications that offer outstanding user experiences. As a pivotal part of the team, you will oversee the complete app development lifecycle—from initial concept through deployment and ongoing support. Collaborating closely with UI/UX designers, product managers, and fellow engineers, your expertise in mobile development frameworks will be essential in producing user-friendly and feature-rich applications for a variety of mobile devices. Your Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance cross-platform mobile applications using React Native. Collaborate with CX designers and Product Managers to deliver user interfaces that are both intuitive and visually appealing. Implement rigorous unit and UI tests to preemptively identify and address issues. Optimize application performance by minimizing rendering time and memory consumption, ensuring seamless user interactions. Steer the full lifecycle of application development using industry-standard design patterns and frameworks. Integrate automated testing and continuous deployment practices through effective CI/CD pipelines. Develop and support backend APIs using Python, facilitating smooth data flow and business logic execution. Proactively identify software issues, including code quality and security vulnerabilities, and provide remediation. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation that aligns with GM standards. Ensure compliance with GM policies and industry best practices throughout the development process. Model GM leadership behaviors, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. Act as a technical leader, mentoring team members, and guiding development efforts towards strategic objectives. Your Skills & Abilities: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 6+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in mobile application development. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Proficiency in React, React Native, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, and Python. Familiarity with native development tools, such as Android Studio, IntelliJ, and Xcode. Experience with Swift and Kotlin for native development. Knowledge of build pipelines, CI/CD automation, and deployment workflows. Strong understanding of software testing and quality assurance practices. Proven capability to maintain and debug live applications in production environments. Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): 8+ years of experience in software development, including 4+ years of mobile application experience. 3+ years of hands-on experience with React Native. Backend development proficiency using Python. Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $134,000 to $205,000, depending on relevant experience and qualifications. Additionally, incentive pay programs are available based on company and individual performance. Benefits:
