Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: West of Ireland / North-West / South-West (Regional Projects)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are working with a well-established Irish mechanical and electrical contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager. This role will suit a strong project leader with a mechanical bias who is comfortable managing regional projects from pre-construction through to completion.

The successful candidate will take full ownership of project delivery, acting as the key point of contact between clients, consultants, site teams, and subcontractors.

• Lead the full lifecycle delivery of mechanical or M&E projects, from design coordination through construction, commissioning, and handover
  
• Manage multiple projects across the West, North-West, and South-West regions
  
• Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes and execution strategies
  
• Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and Irish building regulations

• Maintain full commercial responsibility for assigned projects, including budgets, forecasts, and reporting
  
• Procure plant, materials, subcontractors, and specialist services
  
• Manage variations, valuations, cost reporting, and final accounts
  
• Work closely with commercial teams to manage risk and protect margins

• Coordinate mechanical design development with consultants and internal engineering teams
  
• Review drawings, technical submissions, and specifications for compliance and buildability
  
• Lead value-engineering initiatives where appropriate

• Lead, mentor, and support site managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors
  
• Chair project meetings with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
  
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships across all project interfaces
  
• Represent the business professionally at all times on live sites

• Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements
  
• Ensure quality standards are achieved through inspections, testing, and commissioning processes
  
• Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and site performance

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager within mechanical or M&E contracting
  
• Strong mechanical background (HVAC, pipework, plant, plumbing systems) xcfaprz
  
• Demonstrated experience delivering construction projects in Ireland
  
• Strong commercial awareness with proven cost control capability
  
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel regionally
  
• Degree or trade background in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
  
• Experience on healthcare, pharmaceutical, commercial, or public sector projects
  
• Exposure to BIM and coordinated design environments
  
• Familiarity with ISO management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
