Gastroenterology Physician

SMH Innovations is seeking one (1) Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist for part-time, long-term coverage at Providence St. Mary s Medical Center .

This is a supplemental coverage need with a planned assignment from March 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027 , pending completion of credentialing and privileging.

• Start: March 2026 (upon completion of privileging)

• Setting: Inpatient (primary) with limited outpatient clinic as needed

• Coverage Commitment:

  • 2 weeks per month (part-time, long-term)

• Coverage Type: Scheduled clinic hours + call

• EMR: Epic

• Inpatient Coverage:

  • 7:00 AM 7:00 PM

  • Night call after shift

• Weekend Coverage:

  • 24-hour call coverage

• Outpatient Clinic (if needed):

  • Up to 1 day per week

  • Provider will return to the hospital to complete a 12-hour shift after the clinic

• Overtime:

  • Applies after 12 hours per day
    

• Call Compensation:

  • Night call and callback billed separately per facility guidelines

• Guaranteed Hours:

  • Per the confirmed shift schedule

The provider must be comfortable with both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology , including the following required procedures :

Required:

• Upper GI endoscopy (EGD)

  • With biopsy

  • With foreign body removal

  • With fulguration of bleeding (cautery vs. laser)

  • With the injection of varices

• Colonoscopy

  • With biopsy

  • With excision of polyp

• Esophageal dilation/manometry

• Small bowel biopsy

• Flexible sigmoidoscopy

Not Required:

• ERCP (diagnostic or therapeutic)

• Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)

• PEG placement

• Liver biopsy

• Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management

• Esophageal manometry interpretation

• Active Washington medical license or IMLC

• Board Certified or Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency)

• BLS / ACLS per hospital credentialing standards

• Practice gaps >3 months must be explained

• Case logs:

  • Current case volumes must be included upon provider presentation
