Role Overview The Senior Solutions Architect for the OnVUE team will serve as a pivotal technical leader responsible for shaping and governing the architecture of our platform. This role is critical in ensuring that our core offering, as part of Pearson VUE, is built on a foundation that is scalable, secure, and maintainable. As a hands-on technical contributor, you will play a key role in guiding the architecture to align with broader platform and enterprise standards. The OnVUE remote proctoring system allows individuals to take exams from anywhere in the world, enhancing accessibility to assessment opportunities. With the significant growth of OnVUE during the COVID-19 pandemic, it remains a cornerstone of Pearson VUE's testing strategy, making this role essential as we invest in future advancements. OnVUE is powered by a primary tech stack that includes Java (currently version 25) and Angular (currently version 19), operating within Microsoft Azure in Kubernetes. Key Responsibilities: Architecture & Design Own and innovate the end-to-end architecture for specific products or domains. Design robust solution architectures that carefully balance functional and non-functional requirements. Define and document architectural patterns including microservices, APIs, and data integration models. Ensure alignment with modernization goals, focusing on cloud-native designs, security, and resilience. Convert business requirements and technical constraints into actionable design guidance for engineering teams. Oversee and approve significant design decisions to maintain consistency and quality. Resolve architectural, integration, and build issues to ensure system stability. Drive adherence to enterprise architecture standards while adapting to product-specific needs. Key Responsibilities: Implementation & Delivery Provide architectural guidance throughout the development, testing, and release processes. Work closely with engineers to guarantee correct and pragmatic implementation of designs. Conduct design and code reviews, emphasizing quality and performance. Identify and mitigate technical risks collaboratively with the team. Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and availability standards. Support the modernization and refactoring of legacy systems towards target architectures. Balance architectural quality with delivery speed, making informed trade-offs as needed. Key Responsibilities: Collaboration & Technical Leadership Act as the primary architectural liaison for the product team. Work collaboratively with platform architects, product managers, and engineering leads to maintain alignment. Provide mentorship to engineers to enhance the overall design and engineering capabilities. Facilitate architectural discussions and support informed decision-making within the team. Communicate architectural considerations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Encourage consistent engineering practices within the team. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). Extensive experience in designing and implementing software systems in various environments. Proficient in designing APIs, service integrations, and distributed systems. Demonstrated ability to guide teams through complex technical challenges. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Preferred Experience with cloud-native architectures, including microservices and containers. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation practices. Experience with high-availability or customer-facing platforms. Knowledge of security best practices, including data protection methods. Skills & Competencies Product-Focused Architecture:

Compensation is influenced by various factors including skills, experience, and location. In accordance with laws in certain states, the pay range for this position is between $150,000 - $165,000.
