Position Summary
As the Senior Forecasting Scientist at Teleflex, you will lead the evolution of our global demand and revenue signals. Sitting within the Enterprise Analytics team, you will be responsible for the end-to-end forecasting lifecycle—from developing sophisticated statistical models to leading the Consensus Planning process with our Commercial and Finance partners. You will manage a small team of specialists, ensuring that our statistical "baseline" is mathematically sound while facilitating the "human" overlay of market intelligence. Your work will directly impact Teleflex’s global supply chain efficiency and financial predictability.
- Statistical Modelling: Develop and refine advanced time-series and causal models to generate high-accuracy baseline forecasts for global business units.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small team of analysts, overseeing their technical output and professional development.
- Consensus Management: Lead monthly consensus cycles, collaborating with Commercial, Marketing, and Finance leads to integrate "bottom‑up" market insights into "top‑down" statistical models.
- Platform Optimization: Act as a subject matter expert for our forecasting technology (o9 Solutions), ensuring the platform's algorithms are tuned for maximum performance.
- S&OP Integration: Align demand forecasts with Supply Chain and Manufacturing capacity planning to ensure optimal product availability.
- Variance Analysis: Conduct deep-dive "Forecast Value Add" (FVA) analysis to identify where the process or models are failing and implement corrective actions.
- Executive Reporting: Translate complex statistical outputs into clear, actionable business stories for senior leadership.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Required: Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Data Science, or Operations Research.
- Preferred: Masters in a quantitative field or an MBA with a heavy emphasis on Supply Chain Analytics.
- Forecasting Expertise: 5+ years of experience in demand forecasting, specifically within Revenue and Supply Chain contexts (Medical Device or Pharma experience is a significant plus).
- Modelling Toolkit: Expert proficiency in Python or R for time-series analysis (e.g., ARIMA, Prophet, XGBoost, or Deep Learning for forecasting).
- Technology: Experience with Enterprise Planning tools—experience with o9 Solutions is a major advantage; otherwise, experience with SAP IBP, Kinaxis, or Blue Yonder is expected.
- Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to "speak the language" of Sales and Marketing to extract qualitative insights for the forecast.
- Leadership: Prior experience managing direct reports or leading significant cross‑functional project teams.
- Data Visualisation: Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau to visualize forecast accuracy and bias trends.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
Behaviours & Values:
- Collaborative Diplomat: You can challenge a Sales Director’s forecast using data, while maintaining a strong professional relationship.
- Analytical Rigor: A commitment to "truth in numbers" and a passion for reducing bias in decision-making.
- Resilience: The ability to remain calm and focused in a fast‑paced global environment with competing priorities.
- Strategic Mindset: You don't just look at the next month; you understand how today's forecast impacts Teleflex’s three‑year strategic plan.
- Ethical Leadership: A commitment to the Teleflex core values of people‑focused leadership and integrity.
