The Opportunity
The Accounts Payable Lead effectively oversees the EirGrid TSO Accounts Payable Team and processes. The role has responsibility to ensure the accuracy, completeness and timely processing of all related transactions in the accounts payable section in accordance with company procedures. The role holder liaises with the AP team and a range of internal and external contacts in a timely manner to ensure all accounts payable issues are processed efficiently. The candidate will play a key role in the purchase‑to‑pay process by leading the Accounts Payable Team and ensuring timely and accurate processing and payment of supplier invoices.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the Accounts Payable (AP) Team to ensure that invoices are input accurately for payment, GL, VAT and cost‑centre reporting and matching with Purchase Orders (PO).
- Lead AP’s interaction with Procurement and other departments on PO and invoice issues.
- Communicating with and resolving suppliers’ payment queries.
- Managing monthly control account reconciliations and ongoing supplier reconciliations.
- Investigating and resolving old creditor balances to ensure that all creditor balances remain within agreed credit terms.
- Assisting with completion of month end and year end.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audit purposes.
- Managing the preparation of monthly schemes to set out deadlines.
- Identifying opportunities for improving existing processes and procedures, driving efficiency and embracing new technology.
- Leading AP ERP system testing and enhancements.
- Any other associated ad‑hoc duties as assigned.
About You
- Minimum of 5 years’ finance experience ideally with a business or equivalent degree.
- Experience managing an Accounts Payable Team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, positive and collaborative working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers.
- Deliver a high level of customer service.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver results.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to organise and work with large volumes of data.
- High numeracy skills and an analytical approach to work.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and MS Word.
- Previous experience with MS Dynamics 365 (D365) or other purchase‑order based ERP.
