NexVentur is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join our clients' team, a tier 1 contractor working on a Civil & Infrastructure project in South County Dublin.

This is a long-term opportunity to work on a large-scale civil and infrastructure project with a guaranteed 2+ year pipeline of work in the region.


The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest technical standards. This role is ideal for a self-reliant engineer looking to advance their career within a company that values engineering excellence and collaborative teamwork.


Role & Responsibilities

The Civil Engineer will report to the Senior Engineer/Site Agent and will be responsible for the technical coordination and site-based management of specific work packages. Key responsibilities include:



  • Setting out, leveling, and surveying for various infrastructure elements (roads, bridges, drainage, or earthworks).
  • Assisting with the development of weekly and monthly "look-ahead" programmes to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Maintaining the Quality Management System (ISO 9001) by conducting inspections, managing the drawing register, and preparing comprehensive "As-Built" documentation.
  • Liaising with the Site Foreman and Construction Manager to co-ordinate direct labour, subcontractors, plant, and material requisitions.
  • Promoting a "Safety First" culture on-site, assisting in the preparation of RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), and ensuring compliance with environmental standards (ISO 14001).
  • Maintaining accurate daily site diaries, resource allocation sheets, and providing data for monthly commercial progress reports.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation and cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2+ years of post-graduate experience in a site-based civil engineering role, ideally on large-scale infrastructure, roads, or bridge projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) in Civil Engineering or a closely related construction discipline.
  • Proficiency in setting out using Total Stations and GPS equipment.
  • Competence in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (experience with Civil 3D or BIM software is a plus).
  • Working knowledge of the Irish Health & Safety legislation and the PSCS/PSDP framework.
  • Excellent communication & organisational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the initiative to work independently when required. xcfaprz
