The Role:

The Communications and Corporate Affairs Directorate has a clear purpose: To strengthen Uisce Éireann’s reputation and be a trusted advisor and practitioner to ensure that Uisce Éireann achieves its Corporate Strategy and Business outcomes. Our approach is to ensure we provide integrated strategic communications advice and solutions to the business and ensure we focus our communications effort on the right target audiences and channels with clearly defined measurables and outcomes.

The Corporate Affairs Directorate has a diverse mix of skillsets and responsibilities including brand strategy, market research and insights, marketing and digital marketing (websites and social media strategy), corporate affairs, public relations, crisis management, project communications, stakeholder communications, public affairs, sponsorships, media relations and internal communications.

The Communications Advisor will support the Communications Manager to deliver the overall objectives of the directorate by playing key roles across the team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the successful delivery of all stakeholder engagement at regional and local level.
  • Media management and engagement at local level.
  • Implement communications plans to support the successful delivery of projects throughout the development, planning and construction phases including strategic communications planning; crisis and incident communications; community impact and engagement and ongoing advice.
  • Support implementation of communications strategies and plans to support the successful delivery of strategic projects.
  • Support crisis and incident communications at regional and local level with particular focus on community impact and engagement.
  • Support the delivery of campaigns at regional and local level to all stakeholder and customer groups as required.
  • Represent Uisce Éireann at meetings, workshops and events related to the project, incident management or stakeholder engagement.
  • Review project related communications messages and responses and ensure consistency and secure signoff at the appropriate level following approved governance process.
  • Attendance at all relevant project meetings, including specific communications meetings and monthly meetings and support/deliver event management.
  • Support Communications Specialists to deliver integrated 360‑degree communications on behalf of the Corporate Affairs Team.
  • Through close collaboration across Corporate Affairs, implement and follow demand and capacity management and relevant process and documented governance for the delivery of the prioritised portfolio of Corporate Affairs work.
  • Maintain critical internal and external relationships to provide advice, guidance and support on communications on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
  • Escalate issues and challenges to the Communication Lead or relevant business owners if required.
  • Work cross functionally on projects or tasks as directed.
  • Some travel within Ireland such as attendance at events is required for this role.
  • Some out of hours work and on call duties are required for this role.
  • Perform other duties as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the Uisce Éireann business including but not limited to:
    • Chief Operations Office (including Asset Operations & Customer Operations)
    • Infrastructure Delivery
    • Asset Management & Sustainability (including Environmental Regulation)
    • Strategy & Regulation
  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across Uisce Éireann and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation‑wide objectives.
  • Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
  • Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant third level degree or equivalent with at least three years’ relevant experience, ideally with a company in a related sector e.g. utilities, telecommunications, financial services.
  • Relevant experience in the water industry is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions.
  • Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results.
  • Ability to ensure the successful execution of solution delivery projects by aligning cost, service and product selection to business needs and expectations.
  • Translate strategic priorities into operational reality, demonstrating strong decision‑making skills.
  • Strong commercial focus while keeping overall financial perspective.
  • Desire to maintain specialised knowledge through association with defined professional.
