Staff Software Engineer | Linux System Software & Secure Compute

I am currently recruiting for a Staff Software Engineer to join a world-class engineering team in Cork. This is a high-impact role focused on leading the development of Linux-based system software for next-generation AI Inference Accelerators.

If you enjoy the complexity of low-level Linux internals but want to lead architectural decisions for secure, scalable compute platforms, this is the role for you.

As a Staff Engineer, you won’t just be executing tasks; you’ll be setting the technical direction. You will own the host-side software stack end-to-end—from kernel-adjacent drivers to user-space libraries—ensuring high-performance AI workloads run securely in multi-tenant environments.

• 
  
• System Architecture: Design and implement Linux user-space and kernel-adjacent drivers in Modern C++.
  
• Secure Compute: Integrate host software with Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) and Secure VMs (CVM/SIVM).
  
• Virtualisation & Scale: Enable SR-IOV, secure PCIe device assignment, and container-based workloads (Docker/KVM).
  
• Performance Tuning: Optimise the software stack for ultra-low latency and high-throughput AI inference.
  
• Technical Leadership: Drive design reviews, mentor senior engineers, and collaborate across hardware, firmware, and cloud teams.

• Linux Expertise: Extensive experience with Linux system software, internals, and API design.
  
• Modern C++: Proficiency in C/C++ with a focus on multi-threaded systems and synchronization.
  
• SoC Knowledge: A solid grasp of CPU cores, memory hierarchy, and interconnects.
  
• Staff-Level Mindset: Typically 6+ years of experience with a proven track record of taking complex subsystems from concept to production.
  

We are particularly interested in candidates with exposure to:

• Confidential Computing or hardware-level security.
  
• PCIe 3.0+ protocols and link behaviour.
  
• Virtualisation technologies (KVM, SR-IOV, or register isolation).
  
• AI/ML inference workload optimisation.
