Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, train, and supervise QC Microbiology staff to ensure high standards of performance and GMP compliance are consistently achieved.
- Implement and maintain microbiological inspection, testing, and evaluation methods in line with site procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and support individual development and progression.
- Communicate departmental objectives, KPIs, and quality metrics clearly to the QC Microbiology team.
- Support and implement changes to production methods, equipment, tooling, space utilisation, and workforce planning to maintain or improve quality compliance.
- Ensure timely evaluation and investigation of complaints, deviations, and returned product, with appropriate corrective and preventive actions implemented.
- Initiate and support internal audits to verify compliance and the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Contribute to quality reports, regulatory responses, and documentation supporting proposals, quotations, and business opportunities.
- Provide input into departmental budget planning and support cost control initiatives to reduce operational expenses.
- Promote a strong quality culture and continuous improvement mindset within the QC Microbiology function.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a QC Microbiology role.
- At least three years’ experience within a pharmaceutical GMP environment.
- One to two years’ experience in a Team Lead, supervisory, or senior QC role.
- Level 8 degree in Microbiology or a related life sciences discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of cGMP, microbiological testing, and quality systems.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop technical teams in a regulated environment.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
