About The Role
We’re looking for a QA Engineer who is passionate about quality, automation, and continuous improvement. This is not a traditional QA role. At EdgeTier, quality is a shared responsibility, and you’ll play a key role in embedding that mindset across the team.
This role will see you balance hands‑on exploratory testing with building and scaling automation, helping us ship reliable, high‑quality software at speed. You’ll also help shape how we approach QA as a company, driving a shift‑left testing culture and improving how we catch issues early.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and evolve our test automation strategy, primarily using Playwright (TypeScript)
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- Perform exploratory and manual testing to uncover edge cases and ensure product quality
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and the QA Lead to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle
- Identify, debug, and reduce flaky tests, improving reliability and feedback speed
- Contribute to test strategy, quality metrics, and release confidence
- Champion shift‑left practices, helping teams catch issues earlier in development
- Get involved in team rituals—planning, standups, reviews—bringing a quality‑first mindset
A typical day
- Pairing with developers to design better test coverage early
- Writing or improving automated tests
- Running exploratory testing on new features
- Reviewing PRs with a quality lens
- Jumping into team discussions to spot risks before they become bugs
Must‑Have Experience
- 4+ years of experience in QA or Software Testing
- Strong experience with test automation (e.g. Playwright, Cypress)
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies (manual + automated)
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Proven ability to improve test reliability and reduce flakiness
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Exposure to or experience with shift‑left testing practices
Nice to Have
- Experience with Playwright (TypeScript)
- Defining test strategies and quality metrics
- Performance testing experience
- Experience using AI tools (e.g. Copilot, Cursor, Gemini) to enhance productivity
