Underwriting Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead their Liability portfolio in Ireland. This role is responsible for delivering sustainable, profitable growth in line with agreed business objectives, while strengthening market presence and broker relationships.

The successful candidate will combine technical underwriting expertise with strong leadership capability, playing a key role in business development and team performance.

• Contribute to the development and delivery of the team and branch business plan
  
• Build and manage a profitable Liability book in line with the agreed strategy
  
• Drive new business growth and contribute to strategic initiatives and projects
  
• Underwrite complex Liability risks, assessing proposals, evaluating exposures and determining appropriate pricing
  
• Identify and maximise cross-sell opportunities in collaboration with distribution teams and other lines of business
  
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients at all levels
  
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, including claims, risk consulting, finance, compliance and senior leadership, to deliver a consistent market proposition
  
• Provide oversight, referral support and technical guidance to junior underwriters
  
• Lead, mentor and develop Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, supporting structured development and progression
  
• Manage team workflow to ensure service standards and deadlines are consistently met
  
• Represent the Liability function on internal forums, committees and projects
  
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, regulatory standards and internal financial controls

• Strong technical knowledge across a range of Liability xcfaprz lines
  
• Proven underwriting experience with a track record of delivering profitable growth
  
• Experience managing or leading underwriting teams
  
• Clear understanding of the regulatory environment within Ireland
  
• Strong communication and influencing skills, confident in negotiation and broker engagement
  
• Ability to lead, motivate and retain high-performing teams
  
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound commercial decisions
  
• Experience shaping and executing underwriting strategy
