Our Grand Rapids, Michigan location is seeking a proactive and organized Shipping Clerk to manage our outgoing shipments. This role is essential for ensuring that all orders are accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched to customers efficiently and safely. You will be a key contributor to our Logistics team, upholding our commitment to quality and timely delivery. A strong focus on detail, accuracy, and adherence to Safety protocols is required.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate shipping labels, packing slips, and bills of lading for all outgoing orders.
- Verify order contents against shipping documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Inspect outgoing packages for damage or defects prior to dispatch.
- Coordinate with common carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups and confirm delivery details.
- Operate shipping equipment such as scales, pallet wrappers, and scanners.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records within the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Communicate with customer service and other departments to resolve any shipping-related issues promptly.
- Ensure all shipments comply with company policies, carrier requirements, and transportation regulations.
- Strictly follow all company Safety procedures and guidelines.
- Wear all required PPE , including safety vests and protective eyewear.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or warehouse environment preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and WMS is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity for moderate physical activity, including occasional Lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Understanding of Logistics principles and practices.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all safety regulations.
- Willingness to use required PPE .
