We are searching for a diligent and organized Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the shipping process, ensuring that all outgoing orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and meet all carrier requirements. Your attention to detail and understanding of shipping procedures will be vital in maintaining the integrity of our supply chain. You will work closely with warehouse staff, carriers, and management to facilitate the timely and correct dispatch of goods. A strong commitment to safety and operational excellence is expected.
Responsibilities:
- Process outgoing shipments, including verifying order details, selecting appropriate carriers, and preparing shipping documentation.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure orders are picked, packed, and ready for dispatch in a timely manner.
- Generate shipping labels and Bills of Lading (BOLs).
- Track shipments and provide updates to internal teams and customers as needed.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and files.
- Ensure compliance with all carrier regulations and company shipping policies.
- Operate shipping software and other relevant systems.
- Collaborate with the logistics team to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Logistics or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics coordination is required.
- Proficiency with shipping software (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager) and general office software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform some physical tasks, including lifting up to 30 lbs, and standing for periods.
- Understanding of safe lifting practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment.
